About

Creative Living Publications was established in 1994 by Diana Mulholland. Diana held a teaching certificate and also worked for the Alaska court system for approximately 15 years in the Anchorage Alcohol Safety Action Program (ASAP). She developed the Correspondence Course, What Do You Know About Alcohol/Other Drugs? that meets the Alaska State requirements for court assigned Alcohol and Drug Information School (ADIS) when a defendant is unable to attend a traditional class.

Diana’s husband, John, was also an educator in Alaska for almost 30 years and he took an active role in the business. Together, Diana & John provided personal service to their clients and encouraged them as they worked through the curriculum. Diana and John engaged in ongoing education for themselves and restructured the course as necessary to keep the information pertinent, up-to-date, and certified by the State of Alaska.

After investing 25 years, and serving over 5000 clients, Diana recently retired and turned the business over to Ann McElhoes. Ann has a Master’s Degree in Education. She worked closely with Diana for several years at Creative Living Publications prior to the change of ownership.

Ann is a Certified Change Agent and has received training in the facilitation of Interactive Journaling® which is an integral part of the Correspondence Course.

Interactive Journaling® is a structured and experiential writing practice that guides participants toward positive life change. This goal-directed, client-centered model helps participants modify behavior as they progress through the stages of change. Interactive Journals help participants consider their motivations for change, explore options and develop a plan with target behavior-related goals.

Alaska’s ADIS (Alcohol Drug Information School) programs, through the Division of Behavioral Health, use core curriculums that combine the most recent research in early intervention and prevention. The Adult program uses a core curriculum developed by The Change Companies® and the State of Alaska. The Youth Prime For Life® program was developed by the Prevention Research Institute, Inc. (PRI).

Creative Living Publication’s Correspondence Course, “What Do You Know About Alcohol/Other Drugs . . . And A Plan For Change” follows the guidelines of Alaska’s ADIS programs. Ann has recently completed the Prime For Life® training as part of her continuing education requirements to provide the Correspondence Course to both Adult and Youth clients.

Note: Prime For Life® is a separate course only taught in a classroom setting and is not currently offered by Creative Living Publications.

WHAT IS PRIME FOR LIFE®?

Prime For Life® is an evidence-based motivational prevention, intervention and pretreatment program specifically designed for people who might be making high-risk choices. This includes but is not limited to impaired driving offenders, college students, and young people charged with alcohol and/or drug offenses. It is designed to change drinking and drug use behaviors by changing beliefs, attitudes, risk perceptions, motivations, and the knowledge of how to reduce their risk of alcohol- and drug-related problems throughout their lives. Because Prime For Life® includes both prevention and intervention content, it is also designed in a way that serves universal, selective, and indicated audiences with program delivery options for each. https://primeforlife.org
